The story behind Scharlau

Scharlau approached Dennis with a clear desire to appeal to a younger and more design-savvy audience. Our rebranding began with an in-depth strategic phase to uncover what motivates these urban nomads, global seekers and innovative minds. With strategy agency Vandals, we defined Scharlau's new direction: Every day is a journey. Adapted to your rhythm.

This led to an identity design that integrates the sunrise and sunset as a key element, informing not only the logo but the whole visual language. Colours are drawn from the colours of dawn and dusk in Barcelona, where the brand's headquarters are based.

A unique and iconic brand symbol was designed as a shorthand for the logo, representing the sunrise and sunset no matter which way round it's viewed from.

While product branding remains simple and elegant, the brands digital applications were an opportunity for us to bring more colour and vibrancy. One detail we particularly like is how the website navigation colour changes throughout the day, reflecting the brand vision that we developed.
