The story behind Fauna Café

When we were invited to design the identity by our friends at Somos Esencia, we imagined a fantasy world where all types of creatures interract with each other in surreal ways. 

With the help of Redmer Hoekstra, a series of illustrations were created to bring this creative vision to life across applications. A bird riding a frog. An octopus riding a bicycle. A penguin hot air balloon. A fish smoking a pipe. An elephant riding a giraffe.

The logo design was inspired by the typography of old 'fauna and flora' guidebooks. The menu takes inspiration from old archives, designed with tabs to help distinguish between different languages.

Small details such as the fauna that appears on the crockery adds moments of delight and surprise for guests.
