The story behind UCO

UCO Bakery began it's life in the UCO valley of Mendoza, Argentina. There, Gustavo & Caterina grew their business delivering small batches of breads to local customers. After two years and a major boom in popularity in sourdough bread, UCO arrived in Palma de Mallorca, Spain.

Gustavo & Caterina fell in love with Mallorca, and so their new physical retail space set out to celebrate everything the island has to offer, from the choice of materials to the products on offer.

The lettering of UCO is a graphic expression of the bread cut in half. It falls into different formations – stacked, upright and scattered – depending on the application. A flexible illustrative element that can be applied to almost everything and make it immediately feel 'UCO'.

The patterns and colours that appear within the letters represent salt, water, wheat and heat – the only ingredients used in the making of the bread. Applied with freedom across the various physical, print and digital elements results in an identity full of energy. A lively Mediterranean spirit that reflect UCO's positive outlook on life.
